Welcome

Welcome to the Clerkenwell Parochial CE Primary School website!

Sadly, on the 23rd of July 2021 Clerkenwell Parochial School closed its doors to primary children for the last time after 321 years of serving and educating young people in the area.

Going back from when the school first opened its doors in 1699 to our final days in July 2021, the school has seen, and lived through, extraordinary times. Sadly, with falling pupil numbers and more and more families moving out of the area, the school finally had to close.

This having passed, we remain strong in the hope that every Clerkenwell child goes on with faith, fond memories and to live life in all its fullness.

This website now holds some examples of the exciting learning and wonderful experiences Clerkenwell pupils enjoyed during their time here. As the last Headteacher of Clerkenwell, I am very proud of the fantastic improvements and developments that have occurred during our journey over the last four years and of all we were able to achieve for and with our pupils.

Located in the heart of Amwell Village, the children benefited from our amazing location by being able to enjoy a rich curriculum supported by all that our locality and central London had to offer. This, together with the excellent support of a highly talented and caring staff helped to make learning fun and relevant.

We were a very happy and inclusive school, with the Christian ethos at the very heart of all we did. In keeping with our school vision and context everyone was welcome and everyone was important and cherished. By browsing our site you will hopefully get an idea of how we supported our pupils to become lively, creative, independent, learners and thoughtful, caring young people.

We have always been proud of our children as you will see from our newsletters and gallery and our joy was in watching them thrive which they did with energy, enthusiasm and grace.

It has been an honour to work with such motivated Governors to serve our fabulous children, families, local and wider community.  I thank them all for their commitment and belief in where the school was going and in their recognition and celebration of all we managed to achieve before we closed.

Thank you for visiting our site and I hope that it helps give a sense of what made Clerkenwell Parochial School so special.
